January 20 where has the time gone?Wow, it has been a REALLY LONG TIME since I have been on here. Life just gets so busy sometimes. I hope all is well with everyone, both David and I gained back everything we lost, it really sucks but we are determined to start over and get back at it. Glad to be back.
Dave and Patty August 21 it been awhile, but we are hereWe haven't blogged in awhile, but we are here. This summer has been a busy one for both of us, lots of family events and my continuing ed and such, but things are looking good for both of us. We have been excersising, but I must say its been harder this summer to get in our workouts. We have only been able to workout a couple times a week. Just last night David said to me he loves the summer, but is happy that we are at the end of it so we can really focus again. We have not gained any weight in a month, so that is good, but we have only lost a little. We intend on updating our site with our new weight and such,it is just hard finding the time to do so. We are getting ready to go on vacation beginning this Friday, we are going camping for a week. It will be a great time! So after we are back we will get things updated. Hope this finds everyone well and healthy. Take care
Dave and Patty August 10 How I faired the Sturgis Motorcycle RallySome of you know this but for those that don't I just got done working the entire week of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I took a week off from work, and took my chair there and massaged bikers neck, sholders, back and hands. The money raised went to the local boys and girls club for a new game system they are wanting. It was a busy busy week, I am not quite sure what the total of bikes registered were but I think it was close to 75,000. I really didn't do to bad with what I ate this week, but my excersise was down. I was not able to go swimming at all, and I am really feeling it. But tomorrow is almost here and a new week begins and we will get back to our normal schedule. Hope everyone is having a healthy happy week!
Patty July 24 Been a good weekWell my last blog I was able to talk about how fun going to Texas was this weeks seems pretty boring to write about. It has been a good week though. Dave and I have been very busy, we are having a 60th birthday party at our home this weekend, and we wanted to make sure some last minute projects were done like finishing up the second restroom and sheetrocking the laundry and finishing it. We are almost there, I painted like crazy last night and just a few touch ups today then its all ready to use! While its been a crazy week for us we have still maintained to eat resonably healthy. I would of wished to get more excersise in this week, but thats how it goes. Only got to go swimming 3 times. But I think the scale will be good to us next Tuesday. We skipped weigh in this week, since we had some time that we neither one really ate real healthy we thought we would give it a week. Hope all is well with everyone out there and that you all are having a happy healthy summer!
Patty and Dave July 15 My trip to Houston to meet Carla! I am a massage therapist, and I needed to get my CEU's done and I thought to myself, why not do them somewhere that I can do some fun things when I am not in class, and I thought to myself wouldn't it be fun to meet someone who participated in the BLMPM at the same time. So I asked Carla if there were places down there in Houston that had classes to recieve my CEU's, she checked into it and told me yes, to google Houston area and I would find some. Well, I did that and sure enough I found several, but what I really wanted to learn was Hot Stone therapy so I centralized my search for that. Well low and behold there was a school in Kingwood that has just that class, and it was about 10 minutes from Carla's home. How perfect is that right? Now there were only a few times that would allow my schedule to get away from work and life here to go, and ironically the class was offered during one of those times! So I signed up and planned my trip.
I flew into Houston on Wednesday, July 9th and Carla picked me up. Let me say this ...I felt the connection between us when she walked into the baggage area where I was waiting. I knew that I was going to have an exciting time while I was there, I could feel it. I won't go into detail about every little thing we did, because I need to get into my suit and go hit the pool, but I do want to say to everyone reading this what a WONDERFUL person Carla Morton is!
She is kind, generous, family oriented, lovable, genuine, caring, thoughtful, spunky, intelligent, and I could go on and on with this list, but ultimately she is my friend for LIFE! I stayed at Carla's home, I went to her mother and sisters home, so I seen her interact with her family in day to day activities. I didn't just see her a few minutes here and a few minutes there, no we were together the entire time, until I flew home yesterday. And I got to say I wouldn't of changed one single minute of my trip if I could do it all over again. I feel I got to see the real Carla, and I will always look back and remember how she along with her family made me feel so at home with them. They took me around to so many places I have never seen before, it was incredible. This was my first trip ever to Texas and they gave me a big Texas welcome. That I will always always remember as a great experience! I will be going back there someday!! I will get some pictures on here soon, I have to go develop them today, after seeing what Carla can do with her camera, I will be getting a digital someday too. I do have some pictures on my myspace page myspace.com/purplerose3
I do have to get more on there and update the look of my page. But there are a few on there now.
I just wanted to say Thank you to Carla and her family for showing me such a wonderful time! And if there are any of you that are reading this blog that haven't signed up for the cruise we are going on in April and that we have advertised on our site, I would say to you, you really should sign up. It is going to be such a wonderful time, meeting everyone! And Carla and CIndy are on the ones that first thought of doing this reunion, and I just know after I spent time with her in Texas that this cruise is going to be fun as well. I said earlier in my blog that I wouldn't change anything about my time with Carla, I need to change that because there is one thing I would change. I met alot of Carla's friends while there, and they were all great! But one thing I didn't get to do was meet Cindy...with the short time I was there between her schedule and ours we weren't able to connect. But that wasn't anyones fault that we didn't connect in Houston, it just couldn't be helped. I do look forward to meeting her when we set sail!
Patty July 08 Headed to Houston!I am so excited to say that I get to meet one of our fellow BLMPMU contestants. I am happy to say I leave in the morning to go spend almost a week with Carla Morton! I am a Licensed Massage THerapist, and I have to have so many CEU credits each year to keep up my license. Earlier on this year when this journey began my hubby and I decided that I would look into completing my CEU's for this year somewhere where I could meet someone that we met through this community. I am so happy to say Carla is being most gracious letting me stay with her, shuttling me to and from airport, school and who knows where we will end up. I have never been to Texas, and Carla has offered to show me around. I don't know if I will be blogging from there, I am sure we both will be! I hope some day many of us have the chance to meet. Watch for pictures!!
Patty June 18 still hereHi everyone. It has been awhile since we have found the time to blog so I just wanted to send a quick note to let everyone know what we have been up too. We participated in the Relay for Life this past Friday night, walked all night long. I am sure we walked enough to burn off a few calories! It was a great night, coudln't of asked for better. I am very honored that to be co-chair of the event here in Rapid City and am proud to say we raised over $115,000 for cancer research! We are done having bake sales for awhile which will be better for both David and I. We will update our weights soon, we weren't doing so well for the past couple of months. But we are still here and back at it whole heartly. We both gained about 6 pounds these past few months but we will get those off plus more. We have been thinking about all of you and hope all is well with everyone. Take care and look forward to meeting many of you on the cruise!
Dave and Patty June 11 Only 10 more months!!Vacation of a Lifetime![]() We are super excited to be going on this cruise. There are so many exciting things to do while there and just meeting all of you who have the same goals as us, to loose weight,we are counting the days:) There are several past BL contestants who have already said they will be joining us also, the more the merrier is how we look at it. I hope you all are able to join in the fun. This will be our first cruise we would love to celebrate our accomplishments and yours!Dave and Patty May 27 Excuses excuses NO MORE! Its been awhile since we have blogged. Yes we too have been very busy and sometimes we just have time to read blogs. But to be honest I made time before, I need to make time now. I think trully we haven't really blogged because we are disappointed in ourselves. The last two months have been incredibly busy for us yes, we have had two Bake sales, fundraisors for Relay for LIfe, and another one here in two weeks. Along with those bake sales though comes two things excitement that we raised almost $5000, and knowing that after the next one we will push ourselves over that $5000 mark!Yippee we are really proud of that! But on the other hand the second thing makes us very upset, we have not been eating well. We have eaten items while baking, we have went out to eat alot these past few weeks and we both have gained. So this is it, its a new day and we are getting our heads bac in this. We are planning on going on the cruise with everyone in April and I refuse to buy clothes in the size I am now. I WILL BE SMALLER. I feel excited when I get to log on here and put that we have lost weight, even if its just a pound, so we are excited that we are commited to becoming healthy and we are excited to say today is the day and this life is our life and we are taking it back and going to live life to the fullest and that means get healthy NOW.
Dave and Patty
PS I think we need to change up our site a little also, so watch for changes coming soon:) May 12 Feeling better and ready to get back at itI first want to take this time to thank everyone who made comments on our site while I was ill. Everyones kind words meant alot! I am feeling much better now and Dave and I are tired of the fact we have let a month go by since we have really been serious about this. Just have got really busy, and that is no excuse. We both feel so much better when we eat right and excersise on a regular basis. Its been almost two weeks since I have been at the swim center and I miss it badly. We both have gained about 3 pounds each, that we aren't proud of but will get it back off. I worked so hard to get under 200 pounds, just to let myself go about that line again, I am back up to 202, darn it anyway, but not for long! I have to get it back off ya know, plus a whole lot more so I can strut my stuff on the cruise ya know:) I hope this finds everyone well and hope all you moms had a great mothers day. I had a wonderful day with all three of my children, my sister and my mom. I am very fortunate that we all live close enough to be able to spend mothers day with my mom and children. Hope you are all as excited about the cruise as we are!
Patty May 05 Salmonilla anyone?Well, my last blog I mentioned I had the crud which started on THursday. Actually as the weekend progressed so did the symptoms, as of Saturday night, my hubby decided it was time I went to the ER. When it came down to me having a sip of water and that would send me almost out of my skin with pain, he said that was in and hauled my butt to the ER.(cause believe me, even if I am sick I usually can eat, no less drink water) So to make a long story short, I have a really bad kidney infection, very dehydrated, and...they are testing me for salmonilla
Patty May 01 got the crudGood thing I went to the swim center and walked this morning because as the day progresses, I feel worse and worse. Our daughter didn;t feel very good yesterday, headache, body ache , sore throat and upset stomach. Well that is how I feel now. I only have two more clients to get through here at work then I am off for the weekend. I am so glad that I got my work out in earlier or I would be missing it today. I just want to go home and curl up on the sofa with a good movie. I will be back on here when feeling better. Take care everyone and have a good weekend
Patty April 23 What a night! Can I keep doing this? My whole body is tired...First I want to just say that I know I haven't been blogging daily, but I do still get on here and read what you all write, and I do want you all to know we can't wait to meet you, its just been crazy busy around here. THis time of year always seems to be, I get really involved in the Relay for LIfe, and we have fundraisers and meeting and all kinds of stuff so sorry that we haven't been blogging as much.
What a night, I just got back from the swim center! Wow, I feel I have a love hate kind of relationship with that place
Now we might not be on here as often as others, but we are here, a part of this AMAZING community, and we aren't going anywhere...Let me take that back, yes we are, we are GOING ON A CRUISE with you all!!
Ok, now I have rambled on, I beter get off here and get some more paperwork done. I just wanted to share that with you, as I walked around the water channel tonight all I kept thinking was with every step I have more energy. You all have a great night and we weren't fibbing, our pictures are coming, just got to take the time to get them on here. Our computer is so slow that to enter pictures takes a few hours and I just haven't had the time lately. But soon...
Patty April 20 With your help we can make a difference!Help fight cancerRelay For Life®: Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
But, Relay isn't about taking laps -- it's about coming together in the fight against cancer. It’s a time to remember those lost to this disease and celebrate those who have survived. It’s a place where people connect with others, share the cancer experience, and find comfort and solace. And it's an opportunity to build hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens the lives of the people we love. As volunteers and donors, your efforts support research, education, advocacy, and services that allow the American Cancer Society to offer help and hope to people across the country when they need it most. By joining together at Relay, we celebrate life, friendship, and an opportunity to work to defeat cancer for future generations. Now like I also mentioned in my last blog, I am co-chair of the Relay for Life here in Rapid City this year. I began participating in the Relay for life when I lost my father to cancer in 1998, I started out being on a team, since that time I have lost my stepfather, grandmother, cousin, friend and in 2001 I was diagnosed with a low grade cancer myself(but I am fine now I assure you I will only use your email address to send you the information, and I am not expecting any of you to donate. Of course if you wish to donate , it is for such a worthwhile cause and would greatly be appreciated also. If you do choose to make a donation to the Relay for Life, after you get the email from me, it will tell you how to make a donation on my team website. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone of you for your time in reading this long message and again would love if I could just send you the information. With all my friends on here if I sent all those emails, I think I have a shot at winning the contest for our committee meeting in May for the Relay for Life. Thank you Patty April 18 For every pound lost/ more energy and confidence gainedI want to start by saying HI to everyone, I sure hope you are having a wonderful day today! THe sun is shining out here today and it is gorgeous out!
We haven't updated our photo's for some time, but we will this weekend, we were going to last weekend but I had a hair appointment on Wednesday so of course I wanted to wait to show you all my "new do". I haven't been to the swim center as much this week as I normally am and I sure do miss it. I have just been so busy with Relay for Life stuff, I am co-chairing the Relay for LIfe here in Rapid City this year and although I love it, and love being so involved it is trully time consuming. But I have been on my treadmill and going for walks outside
Patty April 12 What a wonderful spring dayWe have had snow the past two days here. I got really tired of seeing the little thing go across the bottom or top of tv, "Winter Storm Warning". BUt today I get up and it is so nice out, I can hear birds chirping and our grass looks a little greener and you just can see what a nice day it is going to be. I wish I didn't have to go to work
Patty April 11 Missing in ActionI first want to say I am sorry I haven't blogged lately. It has been extemely busy right now for me. I am working on getting our second bathroom installed so my wife can do some of her work here at home. I just wanted to take a minute and say Hi to everyone and hope you all are doing great. I haven't been on the computer much in the past two weeks, but I promise I will get better about blogging. My wife and I love getting your messages and reading all your blogs, they are very encouraging! I seemed to hit a platuea for a few weeks, but I am back at it stong now. I see we have not reported our weigh in's yet this week, I will remind my wife to enter those after work. You have a great week.
Take care
